'No end in sight' for escalating prescription drug costs

Driven by the growing use of specialty drugs and the escalating cost of generics, pharmaceutical prices will continue to escalate, according to a report out from insurance rating firm A.M. Best.

Prescription drugs are rising 10 percent, a level not seen since the early part of the decade. They're going up at twice the rate of overall medical costs. They?ve risen have doubled every ten years since 1960, going from $40.3 billion in 1990 to just shy of $300 billion in 2014, according to A.M. Best.
